Vision
The MAHE Bengaluru Campus will be a world-class educational and research hub that fosters a community of care and is a rich learning environment for future thinkers and change-makers.
MAHE Bengaluru Campus will be a University City based on the principles of sustainable development, that respect the natural ecology that we are situated in (Deccan Plateau’s arid landscape).
We are committed to respect the environment at all levels, from our office/room/home to the campus, and the ecologies and communities that surround us (villages and keres).
In this manner we acknowledge the context we are situated in that offers us the fresh air we breath, the food and water that nourish us, and become custodians of the environment, promoting environmental health of our campus, our neighbours and the other beings that we coexist with.
Environmental Principles
A healthy environment is critical to every aspect of life on campus. It provides us with basic needs: Clean air, water, food and a place to live and work, and place for recreation and wellness.
The sustainable development of the campus environment is a way to enhance long-term economic, social and environmental wellbeing of all inhabitants (human and non-human) and of natural cycles.
The following are broad principles:

To reduce urban heat island effect (judicious paving / without excess hardscaping)

To plant native and water-frugal vegetation

To conserve and enhance water flows between keres, support soil seepage and reduce potential flooding in the future

To maximize visual, thermal and psychological comfort in all environmental settings and aspects

To maximize resources efficiency and minimize resource consumption (materials, energy, water)

To maximize flexibility and adaptability of all built and unbuilt systems: architecture, open spaces, infrastructure and support.

UN Sustainable Development Goals
The focus of the Rewilding Task Force are three-pronged, anchored in environmental health, equitable and holistic education, and community development. They are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, and focus on the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2020-2030).
