Vegetal Matters
Kashaya Vana / Thambuli vana

Crafted from forest plants that thrive in the local climate, these special drinks are not just refreshing but also offer health benefits with valuable medicinal properties derived from the plants they include.

Few plants adaptable to arid climates are cultivated at our Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Bangaluru campus. A rare and valuable medicinal herb, among others, is being grown to raise awareness about their beneficial uses through "Rewilding MAHE BLR", a unique effort by environmentally conscious faculties here intended to bring native biodiversity to the campus and promote sustainable development.

As a component of this initiative, 155 individuals spread in twelve species have been planted on 26/01/2024 in the initial phase. This concept of vana serves as an example of unique efforts in bringing native diversity and nurturing indigenous plants suitable for dry deciduous forest. Below is a brief overview of the introduction and utilization of the plants planted in the initial phase.
